Art history · my path so far
From the university shop to Broadway, Spoleto, the garden, and the notebook.
Statement
The art I have been allowed to create along the way, and the artists I have been fortunate to work with, has already given me a full and extraordinary life.
I went from the Production Department of George Mason University’s Theater of the First Amendment to working on Broadway and living and working in Times Square, within three years.
Developing complex works with simple materials, quickly, while being able to rapidly adjust to a client’s visionary evolution — that is what opened the work. Rapid solutions with premium results. Unusual solutions to creative visions are some of my favorite projects. Finishing each piece with a storied finish of time and passage is the icing on the cake.
Through the DC opera and Shakespeare scene, with summers creating specialty works for designers and directors at Spoleto in Charleston, South Carolina, the atelier learned to move: clay, timber, paint, geometry, the garden, the stage.
First I was a sculptor. The rest — architecture, landscape, the decoding of Leonardo, oil — grows from that first decision of the hand.

Architectural interior
8′ door crossing to a 6′ door. Soffit reduced in width. Rays of light made with the vertical spaces in the wood planks. Stainless steel nails. Forced perspective pushes the distance and alters the perception of self in relation to the room.

Furniture / copy
Famous furniture copies, including a 14′ Blackamore, force-perspective furniture, and a piano. Rapid solutions with premium results.
COM-03
New York
Three hundred crushable skulls and bones per week for the Gramercy. Theatre blood, produced at industrial pace, each piece finished with a storied surface.

Film / theatre
Fake Louis Vuitton luggage from the time period — built as props, finished as objects.

Washington
News-room reshoots in DC. Sets that must survive the camera and the hour.

Dance / Rube Goldberg
Spray cans that turn into rockets. A ten-foot Rube Goldberg effect timed to a dance with limiters. Unusual solutions to a director’s evolving vision.
